Job Summary:
The CNC Programmer is responsible for generating programs using SolidWorks and HSM Cam Works software in a fast-paced job shop environment. This role involves interpreting blueprints, programming multi-axis machines, designing fixtures, and collaborating with toolroom personnel to ensure efficient and precise machining operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret and analyze blueprints, sketches, and drawings to determine machining requirements.
- Generate CNC programs based on drawings, sketches, models, and other relevant data.
- Program CNC machines with 2-5 axis capabilities to optimize efficiency and precision.
- Design and machine fixtures necessary to complete machining jobs as needed.
- Assist with machine setups and configurations to ensure smooth production.
- Collaborate with toolroom personnel to acquire necessary tooling for machining projects.
- Identify and communicate quoting issues to management for resolution.
- Oversee and ensure completion of routine monthly machine maintenance.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of shop safety rules to minimize downtime.
- Ensure compliance with current shop safety regulations and procedures.
- Mentor CNC operators to enhance their knowledge and skill set in machining processes.
- Maintain an accurately detailed shop labor schedule to support labor tracking functions.
- Perform other duties as required.
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
Experience:
- 8-10 years of CNC programming and machining experience required.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and HSM Cam Works software.
- Strong understanding of CNC programming for multi-axis machines.
- Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Highly detail-oriented with a commitment to precision and accuracy.
