Job Summary :
The Machinist trainee is an entry-level position designed to provide hands-on training and experience in machining processes and techniques. Under the guidance of experienced machinists, the apprentice will learn to operate machinery, perform precision machining tasks, and develop the skills necessary for a successful career in the machining field.
Key Responsibilities :
- Assist experienced machinists in operating various types of machines, such as lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC machines. Learn to set up and adjust equipment according to job specifications.
- Perform basic machining operations, including cutting, drilling, grinding, and finishing, under supervision. Follow detailed instructions to produce accurate and high-quality parts.
- Learn to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to understand specifications and tolerances for machining tasks.
- Use and maintain hand tools, measuring instruments, and machinery. Follow safety protocols to ensure safe operation and handling of tools and equipment.
- Assist in the maintenance and cleaning of machines and work areas. Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the supervisor.
- Keep accurate records of work performed, including time spent on tasks, materials used, and any issues encountered. Provide feedback on training progress and areas for improvement.
- Work closely with other apprentices, machinists, and team members to support production goals and contribute to a positive and efficient work environment.

Talk / Hear : The ability to detect or tell the differences between sounds that vary in pitch and loudness. The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
Stand / Sit : The ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting or standing.
Walk : Required to move between different workstations, retrieve tools and parts, and access various areas of the vehicle or shop.
Use hands / fingers to handle or feel : Frequently use hands and arms in handling, moving materials, and manipulating things. The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp or manipulate objects. The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp or manipulate small objects.
Stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl : Routinely perform physical activities that require use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as lifting, balancing, walking, and stooping. Occasional climbing.
See : The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet). Also, must be able to see details at a distance. The ability to judge which of several objects is closer or farther away from you, or to judge the distance between you and an object.
Carry, weight, Lift : The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 50 pounds.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
