Job Summary :
The Substation Breaker Technician is responsible for performing inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair work on medium to high voltage breakers. This position supports the reliable operation of electrical substations, ensuring the safety and functionality of breaker systems. The role demands a strong understanding of electrical systems and standards, along with a dedication to safety and precision.
Key Responsibilities :
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on medium to high voltage breakers.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve electrical issues in substation breaker systems.
- Perform repairs, component replacements, and upgrades on breakers as needed.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols and regulatory compliance guidelines.
- Maintain accurate documentation and reports of maintenance activities and repairs.
- Collaborate with other technicians and engineers to optimize maintenance strategies and safety practices.

Talk / Hear : Required communicate effectively with team members, receive instructions, and relay information about equipment status, issues, or safety alerts.
Stand / Sit : Required to perform diagnostic testing, monitor equipment, and carry out maintenance and repair tasks on breaker systems.
Walk : Frequently needed to access various parts of the substation, inspect breaker components, and transport tools and equipment across the work area.
Use hands / fingers to handle or feel : Needed to handle and operate tools, perform detailed maintenance on breaker components, and adjust or repair electrical connections with precision.
Climb : Occasionally to access elevated equipment, reach breaker components located on structures, and inspect or perform maintenance on high-mounted electrical systems.
Stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl : Occasionally needed to access low-mounted breaker components, perform repairs or inspections in confined spaces, and work on equipment located near ground level.
See : Required to read electrical diagrams, identify wiring colors, inspect breaker components for wear or damage, and ensure proper alignment during maintenance and installation tasks.
Carry, weight, Lift : Regularly needed to transport heavy tools, equipment, and breaker components to and from the worksite, and position materials during installation, maintenance, or repair tasks.
Exposure to work : Frequent interaction with high-voltage equipment, outdoor environments, and potentially hazardous conditions such as extreme temperatures, inclement weather, and high noise levels. This role also involves exposure to electrical risks and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to maintain safety in high-risk areas.
