Mid-State Special Education has proudly served central Illinois since 1967. Our special
education cooperative proudly serves 13 districts, which includes: Bond, Brownstown,
Carlinville, Edinburg, Hillsboro, Litchfield, Morrisonville, Mulberry Grove, Panhandle, Ramsey,
South Fork, St. Elmo, and Vandalia. Our organization works together to provide a variety of
special education programs and services to all students. Knowing that we are stronger together supporting all students, our 13-member districts continue to work cooperatively in order to access and share the benefits of experienced specialists and expertise, to maximize resources, and to provide quality educational services to all students.
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Autism Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working with children on the autism spectrum and will be responsible for implementing individualized treatment plans that promote skill development and enhance the quality of life for our clients. This role requires a deep understanding of behavioral therapy techniques, medical documentation, and special education practices.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each child's unique needs.
- Utilize behavioral therapy techniques to support skill acquisition and improve daily living activities (ADLs).
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Educate families and caregivers on strategies to support their child's development at home.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including educators and healthcare professionals, to ensure comprehensive care.
- Monitor progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary based on ongoing assessments.
- Provide training and support to staff members regarding best practices for working with children with autism.
Experience
- Proven experience working with children on the autism spectrum is essential.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and documentation processes is required.
- Background in special education or related fields is highly desirable.
- Experience in behavioral therapy techniques is preferred.
- Knowledge of daily living skills (ADLs) relevant to children with autism is beneficial.
- Strong communication skills to effectively educate families and collaborate with team members.

Pay: $23.16 - $24.75 per hour
