What are the responsibilities and job description for the Structural Engineer position at Mid-States Companies?
Scope:
- Works with external customers, internal sales team, millwrights, fabrication shop team, suppliers, and engineers to produce detailed drawings of grain handling site locations utilizing the design software Revit. May evaluate products, parts, or processes for cost efficiency, ease of manufacturing/installation, and reliability. Must be self-motivated to meet time schedules.
Job Responsibilities:
- Collect and verify project scope information from sales team and project managers.
- Must be able to create their own schedule that falls within the construction schedule and manufacturing schedules.
- Apply company and OSHA standards to projects such as conveyors, stairs, ladder and walkway clearances, towers, catwalk and conveyors.
- Work with engineers design industrial structures to pre-determined specifications and functionality.
- Create detailed 3D models.
- Review and submit approval drawings to sales, PM’s and Design Engineer.
- Prepare new drawings and revise existing engineering drawings of basic components from specific sketches or layouts.
- Responsible for adhering to company and client drafting standards and procedures.
- Responsible for adhering to the drafting practices of selected discipline.
- Assist in drafting design and documentation for various projects.
- Assist with tasks utilizing standard drafting detail programs.
- Assist in continuous drafting detail improvement efforts.
- Research solutions to project concerns and present solutions to design problems.
- Assist with ad hoc projects as assigned by managers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
- Communicate with other company departments to determine project scope, timeline, and availability.
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
- Actively participate in personal development and have open communications with the management team to identify future goals, aspirations and career goals.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Structural Engineering or equivalent discipline.
- Engineer-in-Training with the ability to become licensed.
- 2 years’ experience working with structural system design.
- Experience with Revit, RISA 3D, and AutoCAD.
- Preferred experience with basic construction standards and processes.
- Familiar with engineering standards and work processes.
- Experience with steel and concrete design.
- Strong computer skills including experience with MS Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Must be detail oriented with strong analytical and math skills.
- Ability to accomplish all required tasks under limited supervision.
- Must be organized, self-motivated and capable of self-scheduling to meet deadlines.
- Ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally, with other team members.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently (i.e. without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship) in the country where this position is located.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of grain handling systems and support structures.
- Structural steel detailing and standard connections.
- Licensed Professional Engineer.
Salary : $75,000 - $80,000
