What are the responsibilities and job description for the Estimator position at Mid-States Concrete Industries?
The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for all potential projects. Through effective collaboration across the organization, they generate proposals that drive Mid-States ability to achieve profitable margins and provide exceptional customer interactions.
Core Responsibilities:
- Prepare sales estimates and proposals with the assistance of the Preconstruction Lead and/or Architect, Engineer, and Contractors involved with the bid
- Collaborate with Purchasing and IT to update pricing tools; identify opportunities to improve pricing tools to protect margin and ensure accuracy of bid
- Inspect jobsites with customer Field Service Manager and/or Field Service Project Managers
- Follow-up on submitted proposals with customers; track outcome of bid projects
- Develop customer relationships by providing ongoing touches through events, office visits, phone calls, meetings, and other digital interactions.

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent professional experience
Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering
Experience
3-5 years of previous experience working in the construction space (sales, engineering, design, project management, or field)
Excellent understanding of construction processes (architectural drawings, details, and constructability).
3 years of experience proving estimates in the construction industry
Previous experience in precast concrete or the building systems industry
Technical Experience, knowledge, and skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point)
Proficient in Blueprint reading
Experience with Bluebeam
