Facility Engineer

Reports To: Director of Warehouse Operations

The Lee’s Summit Distribution Center (DC) Project / Process Improvement Engineer position is a temporary position with a focus on working on a specific project or achieving a specific goal. This role primarily focuses on assigned projects and learning the Mid-States way of doing business.

The ideal candidate maintains a high standard of professionalism, is technically proficient, is an effective communicator, demonstrates strong computer and analytical abilities, and possesses the aptitude to learn new systems and processes quickly.

What You Will Do:

• Embody Mid-States core values (i.e. make decisions with values as a guide)

• Work independently throughout the warehouse
• Work on assigned projects for the warehouse as the project manager
• Work on industrial engineering time studies and process improvements
• Work closely with the management team to develop and implement short and long-term solutions
• Support the safety program to ensure compliance with policies and regulatory requirements. Maintain a safe working environment for all team members
• Operate MHE equipment: forklift, turret truck, rider pallet jacks, hand jack, and other MHE as necessary
• Performs other duties as assigned including duties outside normal responsibilities as needed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, COMPETENCIES, AND EXPERIENCE:

Experience and Requirements:

• Degree in Engineering (ideally mechanical, industrial, or related)
• Exceptional communications and interpersonal relationship skills
• High attention to detail and organization
• Strong problem-solving skills
• CAD skills
• Ability to work independently and accomplish tasks on schedule
• Excellent computer skills, including a high degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and Google products

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Generally, the job requires 50% sitting, 25% walking, and 25% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean environment.  The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling, some stooping, and significant fine finger dexterity.
