Position Title: Facility Maintenance Mechanic (1st & 2nd shift)

Classification: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Facilities Manager & Shift Manager

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Performs the necessary functions to maintain facilities and equipment in a large distribution center. The position requires excellent troubleshooting skills, ability to organize work and coordinate activities, and provide innovative solutions to meet business needs. The position also requires the ability to work well within a team and exercise good judgment in all aspects of the work.

KEY GENERAL MAINTENANCE MECHANIC RESPONSIBLITIES:

• May operate, maintain, and assist performing preventive maintenance on the following material handling equipment: Sit-down forklift, order picker, reach truck, turret truck, pallet riders and other material handling equipment as necessary
• Perform operation and response of security and fire protection systems
• Assist outside contractors to perform various duties
• Work closely with Warehouse Management team and office personnel
• Conduct all tasks in a manner that promotes safety
• Perform other duties as assigned including duties outside normal responsibilities as needed
• Operate conveyor systems throughout the warehouse distribution center
• Assist as needed during preventive maintenance and minor repairs on conveyor system components including belts, rollers, chains, sprockets, bearings, gear boxes and motors
• Report any breakdown or mechanical issues to the Facilities Manager or other designated Maintenance employees

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLS:

• High school diploma preferred (GED accepted)
• At least 1 year experience in a related mechanical, industrial, or technical role
• Must be highly motivated and able to work independently with a positive attitude
• Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing and HVAC equipment
• Comply with all OSHA Safety standards
• Experience with standard workplace policies like SDS, Lock Out / Tag Out, Hot Work, etc.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with department leadership to resolve issues

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be physically able to do the job, which includes:
  • Ability to climb by ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps and the like, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, and stand for extended periods of time, to talk and hear in order to communicate with others and hear work area hazards, and to perform heavy work
• Visual acuity to perform an activity such as operating a motor vehicle or material handling equipment
• Ability to work in hot or cold environmental conditions
