POSITION OVERVIEW:
Performs the necessary functions to maintain facilities and equipment in a large distribution center. The position requires excellent troubleshooting skills, ability to organize work and coordinate activities, and provide innovative solutions to meet business needs. The position also requires the ability to work well within a team and exercise good judgment in all aspects of the work. There will be multiple positions filled with different focus areas depending on experience. There will be a focus area related to MHE work and a focus area for conveyor systems.
KEY GENERAL MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN RESPONSIBLITIES:
- May operate, maintain, and perform preventive maintenance on the following material handling equipment: Sit-down forklift, order picker, reach truck, turret truck, pallet riders and other material handling equipment as necessary
- Complete repairs and perform preventive maintenance on conveyor systems
- Perform operation and response of security and fire protection systems
- Assist outside contractors to perform various duties
- Work closely with Warehouse Management team and office personnel
- Conduct all tasks in a manner that promotes safety
- Perform other duties as assigned including duties outside normal responsibilities as needed
KEY MHE MAINTENANCE RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Operate and train in the use of Crown MHE equipment including Turret Trucks, Stock pickers, Sit-Down Fork Trucks, and Rider Jacks
- Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs as required on all MHE equipment
- Communicate MHE issues to the team and day shift Lead MHE Technician
KEY CONVEYOR MAINTENANCE RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Train and operate the use of conveyor systems throughout the warehouse distribution center
- Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on conveyor system components including belts, rollers, chains, sprockets, bearings, gear boxes and motors
- Report any issues observed while performing PMs to the Facilities Manager or other designated Maintenance employees
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, COMPETENCIES, AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma/GED preferred
- 1 year experience in mechanical, industrial, or technical role, or related field
- Must be highly motivated and able to work independently with a positive attitude
- Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing and HVAC equipment
- Comply with all Safety standards including SDS and Lock Out / Tag Out
- Excellent communication skills to interact with department leadership to resolve issues
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to climb. Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps and the like
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, and stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to talk and hear in order to communicate with others and hear work area hazards
- Ability to perform heavy work
- Visual acuity to perform an activity such as operating a motor vehicle or material handling equipment
- Ability to work in environmental conditions that are protected from the weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes
