What are the responsibilities and job description for the Health Specialist position at Mid-West New Mexico Community Action Program?
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
1. Coordinates and assists teaching staff in the implementation of the health goals and objectives.
2. Keeps the Center Director and Health and Safety Manager fully advised on all health matters.
3. Ensures that all health related Head Start Performance Standards are met.
4. Obtains medical, dental, and developmental history for each child.
5. Maintains accurate health information in the agency required database.
6. Promotes active parent involvement and participates in parent activities.
7. Provides support and advice for determining the health training and technical assistance needs of staff and parents.
8. Works with the community to establish and maintain resources of services available in each community and will act as an advocate for children and families.
9. Monitors children when they are ill (check temperature/call parents)
10. Participates on committees/special projects.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
·Training and/or experience in Public Health, Nursing, Health Education, Maternal and Child Health, Health Administration or related field.
· Submit to a Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal history records, including fingerprints.
· Have a valid New Mexico State Driver’s License.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $14.78 - $19.00 per hour
