What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler (Hiring 4) position at MID-WEST TEXTILE, LLC?
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Stack barrels and move them into a workstation; stack or dump a frequency of 40-60 barrels per day. Follow company-approved methods.
- Move hoppers, and/or half hoppers, or metal carts from one station to another and a storage area.
- Move barrels from one station to another and to the storage area (barrel lines).
- Take material from hoppers, and/or half hoppers, or metal carts and feed it onto tables or conveyors.
- Take material from barrels and feed it onto tables or conveyors.
- Deliver Un-graded (Work in Process) material to the workstation in either hoppers or barrels on a cart or half-hopper.
- Push hoppers of clothes with a frequency of 20-35 cars per day. Only a moderate effort is needed to move hoppers because of the casters.
- Read and write production daily and complete reports.
- All the barrels and Hoppers must be well-identified according to quality standards
- Unload and Load trailers ranging in temperature from 100⁰ to 140⁰.
- Willing to do housekeeping duties such as sweeping and maintaining aisles and storage areas neat, clean, and orderly.
- Use proper lifting techniques for barrels, bags, and boxes, and the proper movement of hoppers.
- Use safety equipment as required.
- Be willing to stay as required by the supervisor up to 5:30 pm and some Saturdays w/minimal notice (2 hours).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS
- Note: heaviest item weighs approximately 10 lbs. The average weight of a garment is 1 Lb. or less.
- Note: the average weight of a Hopper is 1,500 lbs. (500 lbs. is the weight of the Hopper empty and 1,000 lbs. is the weight of the clothes) to push or pull a Hopper the weight is 120 Lbs.
- Note: the average weight of a barrel is 80 lbs.
- Note: the average weight of a bag is 50 lbs.
- Airborne lint is moderate. Dust masks and safety glasses are furnished upon request. Safety glasses are required in some areas.
- Some areas require ascending/descending stairs to reach the leave work area.
- Wear safety gloves at all times.
- Wear a back support belt (optional).
- Steel-toe shoes must be worn at all times.
- Workstations are well-lit and ventilated for air and heat circulation.
