Join our team to make an impact in your community! This position is located at Yaquina Hall in partnership with the Salem Housing Authority. Yaquina Hall provides affordable and stable housing to people who have experienced poverty and homelessness. The Residential Resource Navigator provides reception for the front desk at Yaquina Hall. The Navigator will meet with residents to identify resources that will help support each resident based on their individual needs and will work with Community Partners to provide on-site services specific to the needs of the residents.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skill, and/or abilities required of this position.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED and 2 years of social service experience.
  • Knowledge of/or experience with: the principles of coordinated assessment, working with unsheltered or vulnerable populations, as well as best practices in homeless service delivery is preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Driver qualifications are required for this position. Valid driver license, insured vehicle available for use on the job, and a satisfactory drive record for the previous three years are required.
  • Basic Life Support/First Aid Certification is required within first 30 days of hire.
  • Food Handler's Card or ability to obtain within 30 days.
  • Candidate must pass pre-employment and random drug screenings.
  • Candidate must pass comprehensive MWVCAA and ODHS background screenings prior to employment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITES

  • Basic proficiencies in computers, and MS Office products, database software and web tools.
  • Must possess excellent planning, organization and time management skills.
  • Effectively communicate in both oral and written form.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employee will also perform other reasonably related business duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.

  • Provides reception for front desk at Yaquina Hall. Provides friendly, informative service to all residents, visitors and staff.
  • Assists residents by answering questions, seeking out appropriate staff to assist them, and/or making the appropriate referrals.
  • Ensures that all residents are greeted promptly, listening to ensure understanding. Assists residents in a professional, calm demeanor. Follows agency dress code, and presents in a professional manner.
  • Meets with residents perform assessments that determine resident needs, strengths and resources. Follows through to ensure residents are receiving assistance from determined resources.
  • Schedules on-site medical, mental health, addiction and other service provider appointments as requested by residents.
  • Works with program staff to identify resources that will support each resident's individual needs, goals, and desired outcomes.
  • Establishes and maintains an active working relationship with: Salem Housing Authority and other relevant community partners to provide on-site services specific to the needs of the residents.
  • Utilizes trauma informed practices and de-escalation techniques to assist participants during heightened interactions.
  • Completes documentation in order to track the interactions with residents and accurately enters the information into a data system.
  • Attends and engage in required annual trainings.

PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

  • Frequently lift up to 25 pounds. Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity for handling office equipment.
  • Occasionally operates a motor vehicle as needed to perform duties at sites or client locations.
  • Maintains calm disposition and regulates emotions when clients or other may become escalated.
  • Regulates emotions and handles pressures of frequent demands for attention, time, and various work tasks.
  • Regulates emotions during interactions with escalated clients and staff.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Occasional urgent situations requiring law enforcement involvement and/or paramedic professionals.
  • Varying shift demands (day/eve/night) may require fluctuations in work schedule.
  • Close quarters, often with a client population experiencing homelessness, substance use disorders, and/or severe and persistent mental illness, and/or unpredictable behavior.
  • Occasional exposure to trash, bodily fluids and malodorous air.
  • Indoor work environment with frequent interruptions and demands, occasional outdoor work environment.
  • Driving in all weather conditions.
