What are the responsibilities and job description for the Preschool Teacher - Waldoboro Maine position at Midcoast Maine Community Action?
We are seeking qualified applicants to fill openings in our Early Head Start classrooms in our Bath Maine Head Start Center. The program provides a continuum of services for children encompassing education, family engagement, health, nutrition and disabilities content.
Preschool teacher Responsibilities:
Early Head Start Preschool Teachers are responsible for daily planning and implementation of the early childhood curriculum; providing a safe, nurturing learning environment; and supervising the classroom to ensure a smooth flow of daily activities and events. Working together as part of the center team, the teachers conduct child assessments, meet with families, encourage parent engagement in their children’s education, and serve as role models for parents in educating their children.
Head Start Preschool teacher positions are full-time, 40 hours per week and are school year (44 to 46 weeks). Some positions teach in collaboration classrooms with local school districts; these positions require Department of Education O81 certification.
Preschool teacher Qualifications:
- An Associate degree, bachelor’s preferred in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field is required. Infant-Toddler or Pre-K Child Development Associates certification may be considered if accompanied by prior related experience. Applicants with 081 certification will be given preference in public school pre-kindergarten collaboration classrooms.
- Other Requirements:
- Prior to starting employment, must be able to pass fingerprinted criminal background, child protective services, sex offender registry, and motor vehicle record checks, as required by state and federal childcare licensing regulations, that indicate no previous record of involvement with child abuse or exploitation and no disqualifying criminal or motor vehicle record that would preclude working with children.
- Persons offered employment must also provide a physician’s health statement, immunization records, and TB screening.
Pay ranges: Pay is dependent on experience, credential, and other qualifications.
