Job Summary
The Education Coach implements a coordinated coaching strategy for education staff. Primary focus area (CLASS or Teaching Strategies) will be assigned by Head Start Director.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides opportunities for intensive coaching, observation and feedback
- Provides modeling of effective teaching practices aligned with program performance goals.
- Promotes teaching strategies that emphasize nurturing and responsive practices, interactions and environments that promote social, emotional and behavioral, and language development.
- Promotes critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Provides supportive, constructive feedback for learning and continued development
- Ensures effective communication with Education Coordinators to enhance training and staff development opportunities.
- Studies and prepares recommendations on materials and supplies related to specific areas.
- Assists in planning and preparing special training events or activities as needed
- Assists with assessments of all education staff to identify strengths, areas of needed support, and which staff would benefit most from intensive coaching.
- Maintains CLASS Observer reliability status.
- Analyzes ongoing child assessment data to measure improvement in child outcomes
- Conducts small group meetings for teaching staff to discuss appropriate curriculum planning and implementation, the ongoing assessment process, and how to individualize curriculum.
Minimum Requirements of the Position
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field required.
- Training and prior coaching experience desired.
- Must be a US citizen; have a Permanent Resident Card, or an alien Registration Receipt Card (Form I-551)
- Must have and maintain a clean driving record (NOT TO EXCEED 6 PTS)
- Must have and maintain a criminal history absent of convictions for violent crimes or for any crime against children.
