The Family Service Worker is responsible for assisting center staff in implementing and providing support services for the children and families enrolled in Head Start. Support services include all identified needs for the children and their families.
This position will be responsible for Wheeler Head Start in Alamo as well as Helena Head Start in McRae-Helena.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with recruiting volunteers within the Head Start families and community
- Establish a good rapport with the community and service agencies
- Develop a Family Partnership Agreement with families, set goals and monthly follow-ups
- Assist with Family Assessment as well as Community Resource Book
- Work with staff to support all Service areas
- Empower families to provide the health care for their children and to ensure a medical/dental home for the HS child
- Responsible for total center operation with included cleanliness of facility
- Responsible for accuracy of time sheets and approving annual and sick leave for center staff
- Responsible for assuring that Teachers are implementing the curriculum as required by Head Start Policy and Procedures
- Responsible for the monthly monitoring using the monthly monitoring tool
- Conducts parent orientation, organizational meeting with the election of officers and policy council representatives parliamentary training and monthly parent meetings
- Submit paperwork as needed
- Establish and access the needs of fathers and conduct a Fatherhood meeting and/or activity monthly
- Develop and maintain a Community Partnership annually
- Calculate accuracy and meet requirements of non-federal share and submit report monthly to HS Coordinator
- Assist in gathering information for the community assessment
- Responsible for home visits, as needed
- Record keeping and assuring confidentiality is maintained
- Attend workshops and training as scheduled
- Attend meetings and activities as scheduled
- Assist with planning, training, workshops, recruitment, registration, and other activities for the parents and families
- Ensure that all records and reports are submitted to the HS Coordinator in a timely manner
Minimum Requirements of the Position
- Must have a four-year credential or certification in social work, human services, family services, counseling or a related field.
- Experience working with target population
- Must be a US citizen; have a Permanent Resident Card, or an alien Registration Receipt Card (Form I-551)
- Must have and maintain a clean driving record (NOT TO EXCEED 6 PTS)
- Must have and maintain a criminal history absent of convictions for violent crimes or for any crime against children.
