Job Summary
This position is responsible for direct assistance to the Dean of the School of Business.
Responsibilities
Academic Program Leadership and Management (40%) -
Assist the Dean with the following management duties:
Articulate strategic vision and planning for the school with the Dean.
Assure ongoing quality and continuous improvement in the college's academic program array at both the undergraduate and graduate level, and in both traditional and online programs.
Manages curriculum planning, curriculum development and course scheduling linked to the Academic Master Plan.
Develops and implements student success and retention initiatives.
Administrative Compliance, Accreditation, and Quality Enhancement Plan (30%) -
Coordinates the implementation and sustainability of the Quality Enhancement Plan (Financial Literacy) throughout the university in accordance with SACSCOC standards.
Plans, implements, and maintains AACSB accreditation and other appropriate accreditation relative to the school¿s mission.
Prepare the annual and semester reports for AACSB related to faculty workload and productivity.
Evaluate and ensure alignment of faculty research policies with related standards for both AACSB and SACSCOC.
Personnel Management and Scheduling (20%) -
Assist the Dean in matters relating to the evaluation, recruitment, and appointment of faculty.
Work with the administrative coordinator of the School of Business to oversee the scheduling of classes.
Manages assessment strategies and ensures alignment with those efforts in academic affairs.
Meets with students to resolve curriculum and degree completion issues; mediates and resolves disputes.
Other Duties (10%) -
Assist the Dean in other matters as directed by the Dean in the administration of the School of Business.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
An earned doctorate in a business field or closely related field.
Other Required Qualifications
A record of teaching, scholarship, and service excellence, sufficient to qualify for the rank of tenured Associate Professor or higher in the School of Business.
Must be a Scholarly Academic or Practice Academic under Business School and AACSB guidelines.
Required Experience
Minimum two years' experience in higher education as a department chair, director or associate dean.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Knowledge of at least one discipline within the school as well as the USG core curriculum.
Knowledge of accreditation requirements, including any special or secondary accreditation requirements.
Knowledge of assessment and strategic planning strategies.
Knowledge of classroom practices, teaching methodologies, assessment systems, and educational technology.
Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs.
Skill in decision-making and problem solving.
Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
Skill in oral and written communication.
