Job Summary
This position is responsible for directing and coaching the university's Women's Basketball program.
Responsibilities
Duty 1 -
Provides direction and leadership for the university's varsity Women's Basketball program
Duty 2 -
Plans and manages practices; coordinates with assistant coach; instructs players.
Duty 3 -
Recruits student-athletes; evaluates players; communicates with coaches and players.
Duty 4 -
Advises and monitors the academic progress of student-athletes; schedules tutoring and study hall.
Duty 5 -
Schedules and manages games; coordinates with other coaches.
Duty 6 -
Purchases program equipment; submits requisitions for equipment purchases.
Duty 7 -
Coordinates team travel; reserves transportation for away games; prepares expense reports and travel authorizations; coordinates meals and hotels.
Duty 8 -
Manages Women's Basketball program budgets, including scholarship, travel, operating, and equipment budgets.
Duty 9 -
Liaison with the Athletic Training staff regarding student-athlete health and rehabilitation.
Duty 10 -
Lead and conduct team fundraising efforts
Duty 11 -
Provide the Sports Information Director with information for the program website to keep updated and informative.
Duty 12 -
Directs the maintenance of the Women's Basketball facility; submits work orders for repairs.
Duty 13 -
Promotes the Women's Basketball program to the news media and community groups; speaks to civic organizations; participates in radio talk shows.
Duty 14 -
Serves as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) as defined by the Jeanne Clery Act
Duty 15 -
Performs related duties.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a bachelor's degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.
Required Experience
Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions in order to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years of experience or service.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Skill in the recruiting, coaching, and training of collegiate-level student athletes.
Knowledge of university-level athletic program management principles.
Knowledge of Women¿s Basketball rules and procedures.
Knowledge of Peach Belt Conference (PBC) and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) rules and regulations.
Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions.
Skill in oral and written communication.
