The Department of Media, Culture, and the Arts within the School of Arts & Letters at Middle Georgia State University (MGA) is seeking candidates for a Temporary Lecturer in Music with an emphasis in Piano. This position will support the BA in Music.
Job Summary
The Department of Media, Culture and the Arts within the School of Arts and Letters at Middle Georgia State University is seeking candidates for a lecturer in art history. This lecturer will teach courses in art history I and II as well as art appreciation. There is a possibility of studio classes as well, depending on credentials. The position is a lecturer position for the fall of 2025.
Responsibilities
This position involves teaching a 5/5 course load, or its equivalent. Travel among our campuses could be required as needed. Teaching responsibilities will include day and/or evening classes, online and/or hybrid courses. Additionally, the candidate may be expected to support students by accompanying them in jury performances and/or senior recitals.
Required Qualifications
Required Educational Qualifications
A MM, or its equivalent, in music with an emphasis in piano for the instructor line.
Other Required Qualifications
Readiness to teach at the collegiate level with commitment to student engagement.
Commitment to student experiential learning opportunities and high-impact practices.
Ability to teach courses such as piano 1-4, music history, music theory, world music.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience
Prior successful teaching experience.
Experience with online and/or hybrid delivery of instruction.
Experience in numerous musical styles including classical, jazz, commercial, musical theater, etc.
Experience in one of our emphasis areas like choral directing or music industry
