Role Description

This position serves as an overall Project Generation Developer, responsible for assisting in the development of engineering designs and plans and the execution of new and/or enhanced energy generation projects to fulfill the requirements established by the Director.

The Project Development Engineer is responsible for performing intermediate-to-complex engineering and project management analysis requiring knowledge of energy power generation plant development. Assist with developing and maintaining project budgets and schedules while interfacing with numerous consultants and Middle River Power supporting a matrix organization.

This position will have day-to-day responsibility to provide technical support to project management and project consultants to ensure development work is performed efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with company policy and engineering standards.

• Coordinate within the engineering group and other groups under the direction of the Development Engineering Director in developing the overall system design in a team environment.
• Interface with local PTOs on grid impact studies, interconnection agreements, site inspections and final approvals.
• Support the procurement of equipment by developing procurement packages, reviewing quotations, providing technical evaluations, reviewing vendor submittals, and providing resolution of technical issues during the procurement phase.
• Research resolutions to drawing interpretation problems, conflicts, interferences, and errors.
• Initiate and respond to RFIs with third parties and follow through to resolution.
• Interface with operating power generation facilities to optimize the functionality of all new constructed projects.
• Layout and provide necessary building control lines and elevations for accurate measurement and correct installation of materials.
• Prepare drawings and sketches to support construction work, temporary works, work method statements, change orders, estimates, etc.
• Daily activities associated with development planning, design, engineering, environmental, licensing, permitting.
• The Project Development Engineer can work with little supervision in accomplishing tasks.
• Provide onsite support (as needed) with the Project Development Manager during critical/complex tasks.
• Review of design packages and organization of submittals/transmittals

Traveling is required for this position (approximately 25%). Travel primarily consists of CA and AZ project locations but may extend to other states. Occasional travel to other MRP offices in Chicago, San Diego, and Spokane.

Required Qualifications:

· Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering.

· Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and schematics.

· Demonstrated competence in MS office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

· Experience with design software such as AutoCAD or Solid Works.

· Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

· Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:

· Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

· 5 years of experience in energy storage, renewable energy, or utility-scale power projects

· General knowledge of medium-to-high voltage transmission/distribution

· General knowledge of simple and combined cycle power generation units and their associated auxiliary systems

· Demonstrated competence in project scheduling (e.g., Microsoft Projects, Primavera, etc.)
