Our district consists of one primary school for kindergarten students, three elementary schools for grades 1-4, two middle schools for grades 5-8, and one high school for grades 9-12.
Position Overview & Responsibilities
Responsible for developing and providing specialized, research-based instruction to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities. Also responsible for evaluating and assessing student progress against instructional objectives and following state mandated due process procedures and functions. Start date: August 25, 2025
FTE: 1.0
Contract: 186 days (plus 2 days of new teacher orientation for new-to-district teachers, the week prior to August 25, 2025)
Salary Range: $46,417-$98,146. For more information, please see the Certified Master Contract 2023-2025. Salary range listed ($46,417-$98,146) is based on the collective bargaining agreement for the current school year, and may increase with the negotiation of the 2025-2027 collective bargaining agreement.
Benefits: Full-time (1.0 FTE) certified staff benefits.
Requirements & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in education and required teaching certificate in Special Education as required by the State of Minnesota, specific content knowledge, training, or job experience required before appointment, and successful student teaching. ABS and/or SLD licensure preferred.
Assignments
Special education teachers work by district assignment and may be moved between buildings and/or programs based on student needs, location of certain programs, student count(s), and applicable licensure. The initial assignment will be at STMA Middle School West.
