Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Meat Department Manager to lead and manage the day-to-day operations of our meat department at Galaxy Food Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the department’s inventory, product quality, staff management, and ensuring exceptional customer service. This role demands a strong leader with a passion for meat products, a focus on safety and quality, and the ability to drive sales in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the operations of the meat department, ensuring quality control and inventory management.
- Train, supervise, and schedule the meat department team, ensuring adherence to company policies and safety standards.
- Maintain proper inventory levels by ordering and managing stock to minimize waste and maximize sales.
- Ensure all products are properly labeled, packaged, and presented according to Galaxy Food Center's standards.
- Provide excellent customer service by answering questions, offering advice on meat cuts, and assisting customers with special orders.
- Monitor and enforce health and safety regulations, including proper storage, handling, and sanitation of all products.
- Collaborate with other department managers and store leadership to achieve sales goals, promotions, and store-wide initiatives.
- Track and analyze sales trends, making adjustments to department strategies as necessary.
- Participate in budgeting, pricing strategies, and profit margin analysis for the meat department.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, local regulations, and safety guidelines.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3 years of experience in a meat department or similar retail management role.
- Strong knowledge of meat products, cuts, and preparation methods.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to lift and move products weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Food safety certification or willingness to obtain certification.
- Full-time position, with evening, weekend, and holiday shifts as required.
- Standing, walking, bending, and lifting involved.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $13.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
