TITLE: Head Custodian at Middlebrook School
Position will remain open until filled.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must have valid driver’s license
- Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities
- Such additions and alternatives to the above qualifications as may be appropriate and acceptable
REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Support Services
JOB GOAL: To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to learn, play and develop.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assigns, supervises and inspects the work of the custodial staff in such tasks as building cleaning, moving furniture, cutting grass, removing snow from walks, driveways and parking lots. Works with staff to maintain the school building in a clean, safe condition. This position carries a full complement of custodial work, as well as supervisory duties.
- Performs routine building maintenance and service of heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems.
- Supervision of custodial staff.
- Opens all exit doors, checks cleanliness of building, makes note of unsatisfactory conditions, if any, and later instructs night custodian of findings.
- Oversees snowplowing operations and coordinates those operations with the maintenance department.
- Checks daily to ensure that all exit doors are operable and all panic bolts are working properly during the hours of building occupancy.
- Makes minor building repairs including painting.
- Reports major repairs needed promptly to the maintenance department.
- Maintains an inventory of supplies, equipment and fuel on hand, and requisitions any needed replacements in a timely fashion.
- Conducts an ongoing program of general maintenance, upkeep and repair.
- Complies with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish and waste.
- Accurately maintains time records for hours worked OT, etc. according to departmental/district procedures.
- Proactively works to utilize work day effectively; manages time to meet workload demands and building schedules.
- Maintains positive and professional relationships with co-workers.
- Demonstrates flexibility and ability to respond to changing priorities.
- Demonstrates ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Performs other related duties as required or requested.
- Must be on call at all times and will be given a Board of Education cell phone
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 260 day position
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel
