The Operations Manager of the Auxiliary Dining locations oversees the planning, organization, and leadership of a diverse team of food service professionals across multiple operations, including the Snowbowl Snack Bar and Tavern on the Tee restaurant. The position requires strong judgment and initiative in designing work programs, staffing cash-based food service operations, procuring food supplies, and training employees in food preparation and service. Other responsibilities also include managing catering and banquet requests, creating and pricing menus, and ensuring smooth operations at both venues.
This is a full time, benefits eligible, salaried position with a hiring range of $63,009 - $78,787 per year.
Core Responsibilities:
- Administrator to oversee all operational aspects of Tavern on the Tee and Snow Bowl Concessions. Key player in optimizing budget performance for both operations. Proficient in all RFO procedures and policies. Always enforce those doctrines with employees.
- Ensure the highest standards in both kitchens, BOH and FOH procedures, observe proper food storage and handling procedures ordering, receiving, Inventory, fill out temp and time sheets, follow cleaning checklists. Following VT safety and sanitary standards every shift.
- Ensure cash / credit collection and entry is through and complete on every shift for both units. Does banking related business.
- Proficient in POS and BOH software and hardware. Must be able to troubleshoot independently.
- Hiring, training, and supervising hourly employees, as well as scheduling employee shifts.
- Oversight of alcohol serving at both Tavern on the Tee and Snow Bowl to ensure all VT state laws are followed. Train employees in DLC rules and regulations.
- Lead by example to provide exceptional food and service to our customers
- Communicate effectively with employees, must be aware that the staff conducts themselves in a cordial and professional manner while in the operations and particularly when in the presence of our guests
Requirements
- 3 years progressive management food service/restaurant experience with knowledge of administrative functions and roles, including cash handling policies.
- A valid drivers license and ability to obtain a Middlebury College driver’s license for truck and van use after hire, required.
- Serve Safe certification required.
- DLC certification is required.
- Strong time and team management skills, the ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships.
- Motivation and the desire to grow and adapt within an ever-changing organization is essential. Strong verbal and written communications skills required.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Must be able to lift 10-20 lbs. numerous times during the day, and up to 50 lbs. occasionally. Requires frequent and repetitive bending, reaching, lifting, twisting, and turning. Must be able to push and pull up to 60 lbs. frequently. Requires frequent walking and long periods of time standing.
