Job Description:
Title: Assistant Director - College for Kids
Unit: Part Time Non-Unit
Department: Community Education and Training
Reports to: Assistant Director, Lifelong Learning and Workforce Development
Date: March 7, 2025
General Summary: The purpose of this position is to provide assistance in the implementation of the College for Kids program on the Bedford campus, which provides educational and career-oriented programs to youth ages eight and above. Summer 2025 College for Kids and Teens program goes from July 7th to August 7th, 2025. The programs run Monday through Thursdays on the Bedford Campus.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide logistical and programmatic support to instructors in the classroom
- Integral member of Morning Check-in and Afternoon Check-out Team
- Articulate and communicate with parents/guardians of students as well as staff and faculty college wide
- Provide short-term supervision of children on an as-needed basis during an instructor absence
- Participate as a member of an emergency response team that coordinates appropriate action in an emergency
- Assist Director with in-house guest speaker logistics and scheduling
- Responsible for student supervision along with instructors on field trips
- Monitor and supervise lunch period incorporating guided activities into the session
- Provide administrative assistance; such as, but not limited to, maintaining records and updating databases
- Organize information for weekly programs; collect weekly attendance and other pertinent information
- Other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or current enrollment in an undergraduate program
- Teaching Experience and working with summer camps or similar youth programs preferred
- Experience supervising children and coordinating hands-on activities
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, verbal and problem solving skills
- Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, database and Internet software applications
- Ability to comprehend and comply with Department of Public Health summer camp regulations
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound judgments in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to provide appropriate health records required by Department of Public Health summer camp regulations
- Current certification in First Aid
Additional Information:
Salary Range: $26.26 per hour in accordance with the College's Part-Time Wage Schedule
Location: Bedford campus with occasional travel to Lowell as needed
Hours: Minimum 32 hours per week. Flexibility in scheduling mandatory.
Expected Start Date: Week of June 23, 2025. Summer 2025 College for Kids runs July 7th to August 7th from Monday through Thursday in Bedford.
