Job Description:
Title: Building and Events Staff, Academic Arts Center (AAC)
Unit: Part-Time Non-Unit Support Staff
Department: Administration
Reports to: Academic Arts Center Building and Event Manager
Date: March 7, 2025
General Summary: Provide support in the operations of Middlesex Community College's event space and special events at the Academic Arts Center. The Academic Arts Center Staff will be required to work some nights and weekends.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Greet and communicate with clients, faculty, staff and students in regards to special events and reservations at the AAC
- Assist in the maintenance and cleaning of the theatre, recital hall, dance studio and classrooms
- Assist in the implementation of events for organizations and those open to the general public.
- Assist and/or lead the set up and break down of events
- Consult with people in the community who rent space at the house to coordinate their technical needs
- Communicate with Security Staff to ensure safety of students, faculty, staff, clients and patrons of the AAC
- Assist in the operation of the lighting, sound and projections for special events
- Quickly identify and resolve any issues that may arise during events.
- Ensure event setups are completed on schedule and in alignment of event plan.
- Oversee the dismantling of event elements and ensure proper cleanup procedures are followed.
- Promote and maintain positive community relations.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Requirements:
- High School diploma/GED or Higher
- One (1) to three (3) years of related experience.
- Working knowledge of modern office equipment, including the use of computers.
- Strong customer service skills and ability to respond effectively in dynamic customer interactions
- Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and tasks.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Ability to resolve problems and to develop relevant alternatives and recommendations.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and to be detail oriented.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to foster positive public relations and engage effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and roles.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in customer service, hospitality, or theatrical management
- Familiarity with theatrical tech (Lighting, Sound, Projections)
Additional Information:
Salary Range: $20.28 per hour in accordance with MCC's Part-Time Wage Schedule
Location: Lowell Campus
Hours: 18.5 hours a week
Expected Start Date: April 2025
