Position : English Teacher
Position Summary : Performs intermediate professional work providing teaching and / or training services to students in general instruction or in a specialized subject or assigned group of subjects, motivating students to develop skill in assigned subject matters, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Department Head / Head Teacher and school principal. Limited supervision is exercised over Paraprofessionals.

Essential Functions :
- Instructional Responsibilities
Lesson Planning and Preparation
Develop engaging and comprehensive lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards.
Facilitate the study of classic and contemporary works of fiction, poetry, drama, and non-fiction.
Teach the writing process, including brainstorming, drafting, revising, and editing.
Teach grammar, vocabulary, punctuation, and sentence structure.
Create and grade assignments, quizzes, essays, and exams.
Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the needs of diverse learners, including English Language Learners (ELLs) and students with disabilities.
Classroom Management
Create a respectful and inclusive classroom environment.
Foster a positive and engaging learning atmosphere.
Develop rapport with students to encourage participation and a sense of belonging.
Administrative Responsibilities
Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and assignments.
Work with other teachers to align curriculum and share teaching strategies.
Regularly communicate with parents / guardians about student performance and classroom updates.
Follow school, district, and state regulations regarding curriculum, assessment, and classroom management.
Professional Development
Attend workshops, conferences, and training to stay updated on best practices and emerging trends in English education.
Contribute to the development and revision of English curricula.
Support extracurricular activities.
Evaluate teaching effectiveness through self-assessment and peer feedback.
Cultural and Ethical Responsibilities
Select texts and activities that reflect a variety of cultures, identities, and perspectives.
Inspire students to develop a love for reading and writing.
Serve as a role model in behavior, communication, and work ethic.
Education and Experience : Bachelor's degree with coursework in assigned specialty area, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements : This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing, speaking or hearing and using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently requires walking and occasionally requires sitting and repetitive motions; work requires close vision, distance vision, depth perception and peripheral vision; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and / or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data and observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires exposure to blood borne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment; work has no exposure to environmental conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, playground, classroom, light traffic).
