What are the responsibilities and job description for the Animal Shelter Manager position at Middlesex County?
Job Overview
The Animal Shelter Manager oversees the daily operations of the shelter, ensuring the well-being of all animals in our care, and promoting a safe and welcoming environment for both animals and visitors. This position requires strong leadership skills, a passion for animal welfare, and the ability to manage staff and volunteers effectively. The Manager will work closely with veterinary staff, volunteers, and community members to promote responsible pet ownership and facilitate adoptions.
Important Note: Working at our animal shelter is a rewarding but physically demanding job. Be prepared for hands-on tasks that can include cleaning up after animals (poop, pee, and occasional vomit), exposure to the elements (rain, mud, and varying weather conditions), and handling animals that may occasionally bite or scratch. While we are proud of our no kill status, there will be times when, due to the animal's physical condition, the shelter manager has to pull together the management team, to make a decision to let an animal go in peace, the hardest part of the job.
