The Middlesex County Administrator’s Office is seeking a reliable and versatile Part-Time Service Worker (Handyman) to perform a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks across county facilities and parks.
Example of Responsibilities:
- Maintain county vehicles, including washing and taking them in for oil changes.
- Perform minor repairs (e.g., fixing running toilets, replacing light bulbs, repairing locks).
- Handle general maintenance such as painting, landscaping, grass cutting, and trail upkeep.
- Transport supplies to operating sites
- Install and maintain street signs, take down flags, and check park equipment.
- Empty trash in parks and ensure public spaces remain clean and safe.
- Identify, prioritize, and address maintenance issues proactively.
Requirements:
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- A smartphone for receiving and managing work orders.
- Physical capability to climb ladders and stairs, navigate rough terrain, and lift moderate loads.
- A proactive, self-motivated attitude with strong problem-solving skills.
Position Details:
- Hours: 15-30 hours per week (flexible schedule).

Valid CLEAN Virginia driver's license is required, as you will be required to drive a county truck or car.
