Position Summary
Responsible for the accurate and timely fulfillment of all patient billing requests, disputes or inquiries.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for managing high call volume from patients with questions related to their balances or services.
- Obtains and updates correct insurance information from the patient and attaches it to the appropriate claim or date of service for claim resubmission
- Assists patients with making credit card payments, setting up payment plans for their existing balances or initiating a payment plan with recurring payments for auto pay.
- Explains to patient their out of pocket responsibility based on insurance explanation of benefits
- Will be the first point of contact for patient disputes, recommending appropriate chain of command for resolution
- Establishes relationship with patient and assists them with initial financial assistance application request. Reviews hospital income guidelines and documents needed to complete application.
- Will address concerns and answer questions with doctor’s offices related to patient care.
- Completes patient estimates for patients looking for specific costs related to upcoming tests or procedures.
- Processes attorney authorizations for itemized billing in the system. Will document all related accounts appropriately and have them mailed out to requesting attorney office.
- Accurately document all conversations or correspondence between patient, doctor’s office, insurance companies or attorneys offices on appropriate patient accounts so follow up can be done in a timely manner

Minimum Qualifications
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly in person and on the phone.
- Strong computer skills
- Ability to work independently and as a team member with minimum supervision
- Ability to maintain a professional manner even under stressful situations
- 1 year customer service experience
