Job Summary
The Medical Assistant Specialist plays a vital role in the patient care team at Middlesex Health, working under the direction of the Practice Manager to provide high-quality clinical support. This dynamic individual will perform various clinical duties, assist Providers with patient exams and procedures, and maintain accurate records.
Main Responsibilities:
- Welcome patients to the practice, escort them to exam rooms, and introduce new patients to the team.
- Carefully interview patients to gather medical information, measure vital signs, height, and weight, ensuring accurate documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Confirm and record allergies, current medications, refills required, and pharmacy details for seamless care.
- Assist Providers with patient exams, procedures, and phlebotomy, collecting blood and other specimens as needed.
- Maintain organized treatment rooms, clean and sterilize instruments, and dispose of contaminated supplies properly.
- Manage patient messages, schedule appointments, and prepare prescription refill documents for Provider review.
- Ensure timely workflow for patients and Providers by notifying reception staff of anticipated service delays.
