Job Summary :
The Medical Assistant plays a vital role in patient care, working under the supervision of the Practice Manager. The MA performs clinical duties and assists healthcare providers to deliver timely and effective care. Confidentiality is maintained at all times.
Clerical and administrative tasks are also performed as directed.
Main Responsibilities :
Clinical Duties : Under provider direction, welcome patients, escort them to exam rooms, introduce new patients, interview patients to verify visit reasons, take vital signs, measure height and weight, and document information in the Electronic Health Record.Obtain medical history, allergies, medications, and pharmacy information, recording these details accurately.Ensure relevant documentation, results, and reports are available for providers to review with patients.Assist providers during exams and procedures as needed.Collect blood samples, label and prepare them for lab testing, documenting these procedures in the EHR.Perform routine laboratory tests, documenting results in the EHR.Conduct diagnostic testing such as EKG and spirometry, providing reports for provider review.Maintain treatment rooms, ensuring they remain clean and stocked with necessary supplies.Dispose of contaminated materials appropriately and sterilize equipment.Manage patient messages as delegated by licensed staff / providers.Prepare prescription refill documents for provider review.Implement efficient workflows to ensure timely service delivery, notifying reception staff of any anticipated delays.Verify accurate patient demographic information, including medical record numbers.Schedule appointments and prepare referrals for specialist services.Assist with reviewing and preparing home healthcare certifications and other documents as requested.Adhere to organizational core values (Compassion, Excellence, Collaboration, Honesty, and Innovation) and absolutes (Privacy, Confidentiality, Professional Appearance, and Responsibility).Required Qualifications :
High School Diploma or EquivalentFamiliarity with medical terminology and medicationsExcellent communication and customer service skillsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
