Position Summary
The Financial Counselor is responsible for review/referral of self pay accounts. Responds to patient requests for financial assistance, payment arrangements, etc. Acts a liaison between other departments, physicians and collection agencies/attorneys; promotes teamwork at all times. Uses independent judgment to perform a wide range of financial counseling procedures using a variety of equipment. Assists supervisor and provides excellent customer service essential to procedures. Exercises professional judgment in the performance of procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Typing/keyboard skills
- Ability to work quickly and accurately
- Excellent communications skills (telephone, written, and personal)
- Customer service experience
- Hospital patient accounts experience preferred
