What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Service Support Staff position at Middlesex Human Service Agency?
To assist the Middlesex Human Service Agency ("MHSA") Food Service Program with securing, transporting, organizing, cooking for: Food Pantry, Mobile Market, and "back-up" meals for Soup Kitchen, when necessary.
Scope: The Food Service/Soup Kitchen "back-up" meals /Mobile Market/Food Pantry staff is responsible for the daily, ongoing food preparation and distribution of both perishable and non-perishable items to all of MHSA Programs. Support Staff is responsible for assisting with inventory control, product receiving and overall cleanliness of the Food Service food preparation and warehouse facility, as well as all appropriate equipment used in conducting daily operations. Support Staff will assist with scheduling and coordinating volunteer groups that serve and supply the Food Pantry with weekly food supplies, as well as coordinating and logging all donations received through the Agency warehouse. Support Staff will transport, organize and be part of the distribution of food for the Mobile Market. This is a non-exempt, hourly position.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with communicating and modeling with the Bristol Lodge Food Pantry and Mobile Market volunteers.
- Adhere to MHSA policy, procedures and standards at all times.
- Continue to develop and nurture relationships with Food Pantry and Mobile Market volunteer groups and donors.
- Work with volunteer groups in their efforts to provide and improve services for MHSA programs.
- Staff will assist in maintaining the overall cleanliness of Food Pantry storage area and donations room.
- Staff will assist in all Food Service operations including food prep, storage, receiving and distribution
- Staff will participate in all Greater Boston Food Bank and other donor pick-up and distribution for all MHSA Programs.
- Participate in all donation pick-ups and receiving.
- Staff are required to secure a ServSafe certification that will be valid at all times.

- Staff will assist the Coordinator to developing program menus, order corresponding food supplies, and maintain proper inventory.
- Prepare and cook program meals as needed.
- Assist the Coordinator to secure food procurement and distribution for the Mobile Market Program.
- Maintain overall cleanliness of MHSA Food Service facility.
- Assist the Director and the Coordinator in managing the warehouse floor and all
phases of warehouse operations, as needed.
- Assist the Facilities and Maintenance Departments in performing certain
repairs and maintenance service, as needed.
- Maintain open and consistent communication with MHSA supervisors and
program staff.
- Abide by all MHSA policies regarding boundaries, strict confidentiality and ethical standards
- Attend in-service and outside training instruction as assigned by the Director and/or the Coordinator.
- Various other responsibilities as assigned by Director and/or the Coordinator from time to time and/or needed to ensure the proper functioning of the Program
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Three (3) years experience in food prep, storage and safe handling.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with diverse population.
- Ability to work as part of a Team.
- CPR/AED First Aid Certified (will provide training opportunity).
- ServSafe certified (will provide training opportunity).
- Demonstrated reliable attendance and reporting for work.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Reliable personal transportation.
- Satisfactory CORI/SORI reports at all times while employed by MHSA.
