The Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety of all swimmers and visitors at the pool facility. This role involves monitoring activities in and around the water, enforcing safety rules, responding to emergencies, and providing first aid or CPR when necessary. Lifeguards also assist with maintaining the cleanliness of the pool area and may provide customer service to guests. This is a seasonal position that will begin in June and end after Labor Day weekend.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor swimmers and enforce pool rules to prevent accidents and ensure safety.
- Respond quickly to emergencies, including water rescues, administering first aid, and performing CPR when necessary.
- Maintain a vigilant watch over assigned areas to identify potential hazards.
- Inspect and maintain safety equipment, such as rescue tubes and first aid kits.
- Assist with pool maintenance, including checking water chemistry and reporting any issues.
- Provide excellent customer service by answering guest questions and offering assistance.
- Participate in ongoing training and drills to maintain certifications and skills.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Current Lifeguard certification from a recognized organization (e.g., Red Cross, YMCA, or equivalent).
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certification.
- Strong swimming skills and the ability to perform water rescues.
- Ability to remain alert and focused for extended periods.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
