Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Billing and Coding Specialist to join our healthcare team. This role is essential in ensuring accurate billing, coding, and collection processes within our medical office. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical terminology and coding systems, including ICD-9, and will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of patient records while facilitating efficient billing operations.

Duties

  • Review and analyze patient records to ensure accurate coding of diagnoses and procedures.
  • Utilize medical billing software to process claims and submit them to insurance companies.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and coding guidelines, including DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) standards.
  • Manage medical collections by following up on outstanding claims and resolving discrepancies.
  • Maintain organized medical records and ensure all documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies in patient information or coding.
  • Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations, coding practices, and insurance policies.
  • Assist patients with the check-in and check-out process as needed, including insurance verification and payment processing.

Skills

  • Proficient in medical office operations with a solid understanding of medical terminology.
  • Experience in medical billing processes, including knowledge of DRG and ICD-9 coding systems.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare professionals.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical collection practices.
  • Capability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 38 – 40 per week

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • No weekends
