What you’ll do:
Responsibilities/Duties:
Receive and process surgery orders ensuring cases are scheduled in a timely manner.
Scheduling Inpatient and Outpatient surgical procedures with the patient and hospital/surgery center, entering surgical appointments in PM and Casetabs.
Provide patients with pre- and post-operative instructions as directed by Physician; schedule preop and post op appointments in accordance with the surgeon’s preferences and type of surgery being performed.
Faxing and/or uploading necessary documents to appropriate facility department.
Triage phone calls and patient inquiries, respond to patients and outside agencies promptly.
Retrieve messages from voicemail, email and EMR System.
Submitting surgical cases and coding for prior authorization prior to surgery.
Put together patient packets and other surgical packets for physician to take to OR.
Coordinate Physician’s OR schedule and time off - adjusting clinic schedules as necessary and communicating changes to Admin Team.
Understanding surgical procedures, such as the necessary time a surgery takes, medical staff necessary and equipment needed for the surgery.
Coordinate any ancillary testing and pre-operative clearances as directed by the physician, mid-level provider and/or in accordance with anesthesia guidelines.
Facilitate communication between physicians, hospital/surgical center departments and patients.
Uploading Physician’s Operative Notes for billing and coding.
Manage all surgical documents, gather and input patient information and enter all post-surgery data.
Must be able to adapt to continuous changes.
Work Independently on assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
Promote cooperation through teamwork – provide coverage for teammates as appropriate.
Provide outstanding customer service and assistance to patients.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Who you are:
Qualifications:
High school Diploma or equivalent.
Previous surgical scheduling experience is required.
Spine experience or spine surgical scheduling preferred.
Some knowledge of Insurance companies’ policies and procedures.
Medical Terminology, Organization Skills, Time Management Skills, Strong Customer Service Skills
