Job Summary:
The hydrant painter will be under the supervision of the Distribution Manager to locate company owned fire hydrants, clear debris, cut overgrown vegetation, remove rust/peeling paint and neatly repaint hydrants. The duration of this position will be up to twelve (12) weeks.
Work Performed:
- Locate hydrants using TUI system maps.
- Clear debris and overgrown vegetation from around the hydrant.
- Prepare the hydrant surface by scraping, brushing and priming.
- Carefully and neatly paint hydrants so as to avoid dripping paint on nearby private property and sidewalks.
- May be required to pull a cart throughout housing developments with painting supplies.
- Operate Company vehicles in a safe, courteous, and responsible manner.
- Maintain records of newly painted hydrants.
- Secure vehicles, tools, equipment, and maps when not in use.
- Follow safety training and safe work practices.
- Act courteous to customers and the public.
- Other tasks as assigned by the Distribution Foreman.
Qualifications:
- High school education.
- Valid Drivers License.
- Capable to work well with others and without direct supervision.
- Must be able to bend, squat, lift, and walk.
- Must adhere to the Companys Safety Policies and Procedures.
- Must wear company supplied PPE during the work day.
