Overview:

Middleton Meyers is seeking an experienced Asset Protection Agent that will be based in Charlotte, NC. The Asset Protection Agent is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the residents, staff, and property within a multifamily apartment community. This role involves patrolling the property, monitoring surveillance systems, enforcing community rules, responding to emergencies, and providing a visible security presence to prevent and address incidents of crime, vandalism, or disturbances.

 

What You’ll Do:

Community Surveillance and Monitoring:

  • Perform regular foot and vehicle patrols of the apartment complex, including common areas, parking lots, hallways, and grounds.
  • Monitor security cameras and other surveillance equipment to detect suspicious activity or security breaches.
  • Ensure that all gates, entrances, and doors are secured properly and functioning as intended.
  • Incident Response and Reporting:
  • Respond promptly to emergency calls, disturbances, or incidents (e.g., noise complaints, trespassing, vandalism).
  • Investigate and document security-related incidents, including gathering evidence, witness statements, and creating detailed reports.
  • Report and escalate any serious security concerns or criminal activities to local law enforcement, property management, or emergency personnel.

Safety and Crime Prevention: 

  • Implement and enforce community rules and policies to prevent unauthorized access, vandalism, theft, or violence.
  • Conduct random checks of doors, windows, and gates to ensure that all residents’ apartments are secure.
  • Offer assistance to residents with lockouts, package deliveries, or other safety-related concerns.
  • Emergency Preparedness:
  • Assist in evacuation procedures during fires, medical emergencies, or other critical situations.
  • Be trained in first aid, CPR, and emergency response protocols to ensure swift and effective action in an emergency.

Customer Service and Resident Interaction:

  • Provide excellent customer service by addressing resident concerns and inquiries in a professional, courteous manner.
  • Foster positive relationships with residents by maintaining a visible and approachable presence on the property.
  • Educate residents on security best practices and community rules, and promote a safe and welcoming living environment.
  • Access Control and Visitor Management:
  • Monitor the access control systems, including gates, doors, and entrances to ensure only authorized individuals are allowed entry.
  • Maintain a log of visitors, vendors, and contractors entering and leaving the property.
  • Ensure proper identification and verification of visitors and delivery personnel. Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work closely with the property management team, maintenance staff, and local law enforcement to address safety concerns and enhance the security of the community.
  • Communicate effectively with other team members and supervisors to ensure proper coordination of security operations.
  • Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards (e.g., broken lights, damaged gates) to the appropriate staff for prompt resolution.
  • Documentation and Record Keeping:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date logs of all activities, incidents, and patrols.
  • Provide detailed reports on security incidents and daily security operations as needed by
  • property management.
  • Document any unusual activity, resident complaints, or safety concerns for future reference.

What You’ll Need:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Some college education or training in criminal justice or security is a plus.
  • Experience: Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or loss prevention is preferred, but not required.
  • Strong observational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a professional and calm demeanor in high-stress situations.
  • Basic knowledge of security systems and emergency protocols.
  • Ability to handle conflicts and potentially volatile situations with tact and professionalism.
  • Customer-focused attitude with a commitment to providing a safe and secure living environment for residents.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk, or patrol for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds as needed (e.g., equipment, gates, etc.).
  • Ability to respond quickly to emergencies, including climbing stairs or walking long distances across the property.

Working Conditions:

  • The position may require working during evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on the community's needs.
  • May be required to work in a variety of weather conditions (e.g., heat, rain, cold) while patrolling the property.
  • Some exposure to potentially hazardous situations (e.g., disturbances, criminal activity), but safety protocols are in place.
