Our restaurant serves delicious, locally sourced dishes in a warm, inviting atmosphere where history, food and service come together.
Position Summary-The Waitstaff at Middleton Place Restaurant plays a crucial role in providing exceptional dining experiences for our guests. As a member of the front-of-house team, you will be responsible for greeting, seating, and serving guests, ensuring they have a memorable and enjoyable experience. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a passion for Southern cuisine, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service in a historic setting.
Reports to: Restaurant Manager FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Qualifications:
Previous experience in a restaurant, café, or food service environment is preferred but not required.
- Experience in customer service, with the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and connect with guests.
- Ability to multitask, stay organized, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of Southern cuisine and a passion for delivering exceptional food experiences is a plus.
- Ability to work as part of a team and contribute to a positive, collaborative environment.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and carry trays or lift up to 25 pounds.
- Must be able to work on your feet during the entirety of your shift and handle physically demanding tasks such as setting up and breaking down the dining area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet guests promptly and warmly and ensure they feel comfortable and welcome.
- Present the menu, explain specials, and answer any questions about food and beverages, including ingredient details and preparation methods.
- Take food and drink orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring all special requests or dietary restrictions are noted and communicated to the kitchen.
- Deliver food and beverages to the table in a timely manner, checking for guest satisfaction and responding to requests as needed.
- Be knowledgeable about the restaurant’s menu, including ingredients, allergens, and preparation methods.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dining area, ensuring tables are set and cleared in a timely and professional manner.
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth service flow and accurate order delivery.
- Handle cash and credit transactions accurately, and provide change and receipts as needed.
- Work closely with other waitstaff, kitchen staff, and management to ensure smooth and efficient restaurant operations.
- Assist with setting up and breaking down the dining room before and after shifts, ensuring that the space is clean, organized, and ready for service.
- Contribute to a positive team environment, supporting colleagues during busy times and maintaining a professional demeanor at all times.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including food handling, sanitation, and cleanliness protocols.
- Follow Middleton Place Restaurant's policies regarding food and beverage service, ensuring a safe and comfortable experience for all guests.
