Position
: Elementary Instructional Support Teacher (EIST) *1 Year Contract through June 30, 2025*


Reporting to the Building Principal, the EIST provides both direct and indirect support to teachers, both as directed by the principal and requested by colleagues. In addition to these instructional responsibilities, the Elementary Instructional Support Teacher provides assistance to the principal and instructional program by arranging for and coordinating testing, Tier II and Tier III Intervention and Teacher Assistants, gathering performance data for Instructional and School Data Teams, and serving as a liaison between the school and the district's varied committee's or accountabilities.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Coordinate assessment procedures (SBAC, Fountas and Pinnell, AIMSWEB, Writing Prompts, and all district assessments). Assist in analyzing and discussing performance data and assist in the formulation of intervention and support plans. Assist teachers in determining appropriate materials to use for instruction. Model effective instructional practices and coach teachers in the same. Gather baseline data on new students, when needed. Complete reports as assigned by principal. Coordinate kindergarten registration. Attend School and Instructional Data Teams. May meet regularly with other District EISTs and Associate Superintendent for Teaching and Learning. Assist Principal and staff in driving instruction toward achieving the school Improvement goals. Organize and maintain reading, writing, math, and science materials. Assist staff in implementing SRBI, ETS, and Differentiation. All other duties and curricular responsibilities as requested by the Principal or District.


Certification and Experience:

A current CT elementary certificate. Five years of successful Elementary teaching experience. Peer coaching and instructional modeling experience. Proficiency in educational technology applications. Familiarity with current and best practices in literacy and numeracy Demonstrated educational leadership skill and interest. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
