Job Title: Superintendent of MCS
Job Type: Full-time / 12 Mo/yr.
Status: Non-Exempt
Education: Master’s Degree in Education
Schedule: Monday to Friday
Location: K-12 Building
Reports to: School Board
Supervises: Human Resources Manager, Principals (K-4, 5-8 and 9-12), Dean of Academics, IT Manager, Early Learning Center Director, Advancement Director, Finance Director, Administrative Assistant, and Admissions Director
Background Check: Acceptable BCI and FBI report.

The Superintendent is the chief administrative officer of MCS. The administration and supervision of all educational activities of the school are delegated by the Middletown Christian School Board to the Superintendent who will carry out his functions in accordance with the policies and philosophy adopted by the Board.
Middletown Christian Schools is looking for a Superintendent who embraces our vision, mission, and core values. We are a ministry of Grace Baptist Church and seek to be a Christ-centered educational institution that teaches from a biblical worldview. A person who seeks this position should be one who is convinced that God has called him to the ministry of Christian school education.
The Superintendent is the administrative and educational leader of the school. He shall be a person with proven personal, academic, moral, spiritual, and leadership qualities to direct the total ministries of the school. He shall be a spiritually mature and growing Christian who, along with his family, is an active member of Grace Baptist Church.

Spiritual Maturity:
  • Publicly profess a faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior
  • Actively engage in the life and ministry of Grace Baptist Church as a member
  • Pursue a life of spiritual development through regular study of scripture and prayer
  • Demonstrate the fruit of the Spirit as a byproduct of a growing faith
  • Believe and support the school’s statement of faith (statement of Grace Baptist Church)
  • Agree to abide by the Lifestyle Statement
Professional Requirements:
  • Have a Master’s Degree in Education.
  • Meet the license requirements for the ACSI and the State of Ohio.
  • Have a minimum of 5 years teaching experience and 2 years administrative experience; with at least 3 years teaching at a Christian School.
  • Have a sound understanding of Elementary, Junior and Senior High School educational programs.
  • Demonstrate a sound understanding of the Bible.
  • Have a sound philosophy of Christian education.
  • Possess the ability to successfully work with people. He shall be able to conciliate and to mediate when and where misunderstandings and differences arise.
  • Have a thorough understanding of the nature of children and young people.
  • Have a thorough understanding of the teaching/learning process.
  • Possess the ability to recognize and develop good teaching characteristics.
  • Have a thorough background in curriculum content and development.
  • Have a knowledge and appreciation of the guidance function.
  • Have the ability to evaluate teaching and non-teaching personnel.
  • Have knowledge of principles and techniques of business administration including organization in management, personnel, finance and marketing.
Professional Responsibilities (essential):
To the Middletown Christian School Board:
  • To represent the total school program to the Board and act as the educational consultant to the Board.
  • To provide complete and pertinent information and alternative courses of action to enable the Board to make informed decisions.
  • To provide to and interpret for the Board, matters that deal with certification and accreditation of staff and school.
  • To represent the School Board to the entire school family.
  • To execute the decisions of the Board concerning the operations of the school.
  • He shall submit a report at every regularly scheduled School Board meeting on the status of the school.
  • At the conclusion of each school year, he shall prepare an annual report for the membership of Grace Baptist Church.
Personnel:
  • To oversee the recruitment and placement of teachers and support staff.
  • To provide for the appraisal of performance of all school personnel on annual, systematic basis.
  • To maintain a harmonious atmosphere for teachers, students and parents.
  • Update faculty and staff regarding policy and procedures.
  • Maintain communications between faculty, staff and the School Board.
Finance:
  • To supervise the preparation and administration of the annual budget for consideration by the School Board.
  • To oversee the procedure for purchasing, record keeping, handling of money and accounting.
  • Develop additional means of raising funds to support the school’s financial needs.
  • To oversee the finance office with regards to all parent accounts and recommend any necessary action to the Board.
  • Author letters of acknowledgment for all gifts to the school.
Instructional Programs:
  • To organize the staff to fulfill the educational program of the school.
  • To lead the school in sustaining and improving its accreditation status.
  • To communicate the Christian philosophy of education to the employees, students, parents, and the community.
  • To supervise the instructional process so that teachers and students are guided and stimulated to their greatest potential.
  • To promote professional advancement of the staff.
  • To promote long range planning and implementation of curriculum.
  • Oversee the development of the Master Schedule. Approve and coordinate school activities and maintain a school calendar.
Student Affairs:
  • Administer matters of discipline according to school policy.
  • Coordinate all facets of the student program through the faculty and staff.
  • Direct and oversee the admissions of all students in cooperation with the admissions committee.
Long Range Planning and Development:
  • The Superintendent shall submit plans annually for developmental programs in curriculum, staff, buildings and equipment, and publications as part of a long-range plan for the total development of the school.
  • He shall be the designated spokesperson for Middletown Christian Schools.
  • Submit to the School Board a five (5) year plan of development and revise annually.
  • Speak in area Churches and other groups on behalf of MCS to encourage their support.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • To lead the school in maintaining a positive Christian witness both in the school itself and within the community.
  • To establish a wholesome, spiritual, and emotional atmosphere that will characterize this school as a Christian School.
  • To present the school and its programs in a positive manner to the community.
  • Oversee the planning and supervision of all graduations, baccalaureate and commencement exercises.
  • To develop, revise, and implement an administrative policy manual, that describes the policies developed by the administrator to implement board policies.
Additional working conditions may include:
  • Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue.
  • Occasional operation of a vehicle under inclement weather conditions.
  • May have interaction with an unruly student.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull various items up to a maximum of 40 pounds (100 pounds on wheels), e.g., paper boxes, deliveries of supplies and equipment.
  • Travels to meetings/professional development and work assignments.
