What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supervisory Aide - PENDING ANTICIPATED FUNDING position at Middletown High School?
Position Summary:
Supervise students in small groups and oversee their completion of assigned work. Such groups will include students assigned for disciplinary reasons, including in-school suspension. They will provide assistance to students and refer students to teachers for content support as required. Additionally, when not overseeing small groups, supervisory aides may be assigned to monitor hallways and other general school areas, including the responsibility of checking for proper student documentation to be out of class.
Supervisory Aides will have the ability to deal with students in a non-confrontational manner, including de-escalation techniques. They will need to maintain discipline with students and manage students who are defiant and confrontational. An understanding of behavior management and de-escalation will be part of the position.
Essential Duties:
Reviews and assists students with subject matter individually and/or in small groups
Refers students for necessary content support
Maintains safety of students in assigned settings
Monitors lunch periods, hallways, parking lots and other general school areas
Attends to personal needs of students
Cleans and straightens assigned areas
Maintains safety of students in assigned area (physical outbursts)
Works independently
Performs other related work as required, consistent with position summary
