The Industrial Lead Process Engineer will collect and prepare data/information and perform detailed engineering calculations. This role will also perform engineering design and analysis on complex or unique problems and will coach/develop less experienced engineers, designers, and drafters.
Responsibilities:
- Collect and prepare data/information, perform detailed engineering calculations, and write formal engineering/technical reports.
- Develop technical specifications and data sheets, perform technical evaluation of bids, and recommend best value design which meets client requirements for operability, reliability, maintainability, and safety.
- Provide field leadership work by checking installations and problem-solving activities.
- Perform calculation checking and vendor drawing reviews.
- Serve as a Project Lead for more complex projects by estimating work hours, developing scope of work, making staffing recommendations, and checking project deliverables prior to issuance.
- Ability to lead multi-staffed process teams comprised of process engineers and designers on major projects to adhere to scope, schedule and budget.
- Interact with other departments and suppliers to obtain pertinent information.
Education, Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering required; chemical preferred.
- 5-15 years of experience performing basic engineering analysis and design functions.
- PE license preferred.
- Preferred experience in chemicals, refining, agribusiness, food, pharma/bio, oil and gas, industrial gases, cryogenic facilities, coatings manufacturing, battery chemical components, precious metals refining, and plastics industries.
- Experience in pressure relief analysis and flare system design and documentation.
- Working knowledge of iPRSM management system is desired.
- Process flow drawing (PFD) and P&ID development experience preferred.
- Experience in the design of process equipment (vessels, pumps, exchangers, fired heaters/equipment, compressors) specifications.
- Ability to perform heat exchanger design calculation.
- Working knowledge of API 520/521 and ASME codes.
- Process steady state modeling experience (HYSYS, AspenPlus, etc.).
- Hydraulic modeling experience (AFT Fathom, AFT Arrow, etc.) preferred.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail abilities.
- Excellent multitasking and organizational abilities for project efficiency.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
- Frequently walk, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop or kneel, bend or twist, use repeating motions that may include the wrists/hands/fingers and talk and hear.
- Frequently use up-close vision, distance vision, depth perceptions, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Should not expect adverse environmental conditions within company offices.
- May be exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as climbing ladders and/or stairs, extreme heat and/or cold, and/or poor air quality) if or when on-site at a client facility.
- May require occasional car or air travel to other company locations or client sites.
- This position requires the candidate/employee to possess and maintain a valid driver's license in their state of residence and auto insurance coverage.
