Reports to: Principal/Athletic Director
Job Goals: To provide an educational environment designed to help students succeed academically in accordance with the system's philosophy, goals, and objectives by establishing effective rapport with students, motivating them to develop essential skills, attitudes, and knowledge, utilizing technology to enhance the curriculum, and implementing an effective educational program using the designated course of study, appropriate materials, and best instructional practices. Additionally, serve as a student advocate, role model, and professional resource for parents, the community, and the school system.
Duties:
- Conducts scheduled classes in an organized & professional manner.
- Supervises students at all times.
- Reports to the school administration and system’s athletic director.
- Help with extra duties related to the supervision of students (lunch period, bus duties, assemblies, field trips, etc.)
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal or designee.
- Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals and priorities.
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of child development
- Utilizes technology to plan and provide instruction and facilitate student learning.
- Models appropriate and innovative use of technology for students.
- Facilitates and monitors the integration of technology in the classroom.
- Provides modifications for students with special needs, including exceptional education students and students who have limited proficiency in English is required.
- Selects, develops, modifies and/or adapts materials and resources, which support learning objectives and address students’ varying learning styles and backgrounds.
- Creates a learning climate that is challenging.
- Engages personal professional growth, adheres to professional standards and demonstrates professional ethics, sound judgment and leadership.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding students, school, workplace matters in accordance with state and federal law.
- Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility.
- Responds to inquiries and requests in a timely and positive manner.
- Properly cares for equipment and material resources of the school system.
- Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state federal and local laws.
- Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures; prepares for substitutes according to Board policies and school procedures.
Qualifications:
- Current Alabama Teacher’s Certification, Bachelor’s Degree or higher with an endorsement in Physical Education.
- Proficiency in oral and written communication skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups, for maximizing student achievement.
- Ability to develop and implement curriculum and programming specific to the needs of students at the designated grade level(s) and in the designated content area(s)/subject(s).
- Physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina and acuity to perform job responsibilities.
- Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance.
Evaluation: Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board policy on evaluation of personnel.
Salary Range: Salary is based on Board approved salary schedule based on rank, certification and
experience. (Actual salary will be determined upon verification of experience.)
