The Senior HR Generalist - Policy Specialist is responsible for various duties related to the oversight and maintenance of key Human Resources policies that require awareness of the regulatory environment and are on an annual review and approval cycle.
Policy oversight responsibilities include:
- Develop, review and update HR policies to ensure compliance with legal requirements while being aligned with company and industry standards
- Stay up-to-date on federal, state and local employment laws, regulations and emerging risks.
- Interpret legal requirements while proactively collaborating with HR leadership to understand oversight responsibilities and operational impact of existing and proposed policy. Partner with Legal resources as needed/required.
- Establish and maintain comprehensive, cyclical policy review to ensure timeliness and relevance.
- Oversee annual review of specific key policies to ensure recommended updates are developed and provided to HR Management Committee members for review/approval.
- Follow the review/approval process to completion, including communication with HRMC, HR and ERM while updating the applicable policy on the company intranet, as well as oversight and maintenance of a core employee handbook and those specific to other markets.
Additional responsibilities include employee relations support and special projects regarding the oversight of several key risk matters, to include:
- Assistance with employee relations matters including workplace investigations, policy and issue resolution, progressive discipline, performance management and employee separations
- Providing guidance on matters requiring the interpretation and application of policies and procedures to resolve issues related to employee relations matters and updating policies and training materials as needed
- Initiation and tracking of feedback from onboarding surveys and exit interviews
- Research and report preparation (monthly and quarterly)
- Evaluation and selection of anti-harassment training and vendor oversight
Position Requirements
Qualified candidates will possess a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a corporate Human Resources environment with a robust knowledge of HR principles and practices, to include familiarity with federal, state and local laws and regulations. A Bachelor’s degree in an HR or business-related field is also required.
