We're a growing, dynamic metal fabrication company that serves a diverse range of industries from high-tech to heavy industrial. We have a team of dedicated engineers and a growing customer base. We're looking to elevate our engineering capabilities and are seeking a Vice President of Engineering. who is passionate about manufacturing, process improvement, and building a forward-thinking engineering department.
The Role
As VP of Engineering, you'll lead all engineering efforts across our operations, including design, process improvement, and technical support our internal and external customers. You'll serve as a key member of the leadership team and play a critical role in shaping the future of our engineering and manufacturing capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership for the engineering department and oversee day-to-day technical operations
- Provide technical support for internal customers in sales, production and quality
- Lead and develop a high-performing team of engineers
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across engineering processes and documentation
- Collaborate closely with sales, operations, and quality to ensure customer expectations are met and exceeded
- Implement and improve CAD workflows and design-for-manufacturability principles
- Lead engineering change processes
- Stay hands-on where needed: this role requires both strategy and action
- Evaluate and implement engineering software and automation tools
- Develop KPIs for engineering performance and support company-level metrics
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
- 10 years of engineering experience in a job shop or custom manufacturing environment
- Proven leadership and team-building experience
- Deep knowledge of metal fabrication processes (laser cutting, forming, welding, etc.)
- Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar design tools
- Strong understanding of engineering documentation workflows
- A balance of strategic thinking and hands-on execution
