Department: ElementaryJob Description JD – EGKTitle: Kindergarten Teacher Job Summary:The Kindergarten Teacher at Midland Christian School plays a vital role in providing foundational education, nurturing spiritual growth, and fostering a loving and supportive classroom environment for young students. This position requires a deep commitment to the Christian faith, a passion for teaching young children, and the ability to integrate faith-based principles into daily instruction.Lines of Authority:Reports to the Elementary Principal Education:Bachelor’s Degree RequiredRequired Personal Qualities:

  • Consistently demonstrates enthusiasm, courtesy, flexibility, integrity, gratitude, kindness, self-control, perseverance, and punctuality
  • Embodies a Christ-like attitude in all aspects of his/her work

Required Spiritual Development:

  • Is a baptized believer who is a devoted disciple of Jesus Christ.
  • Believes that the Bible is God’s Word and standard for faith and daily living
  • Models Christ-likeness in attitude, speech, and actions toward others
  • Is an active member of a local Christ centered community of faith

Essential Functions

  • Curriculum Development:
  • Design and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum aligned with the school’s standards and faith-based principles
  • Plan engaging lessons that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities
  • Incorporate Bible stories, faith-based values, and character education into daily lessons
  • Classroom Management:
  • Establish and maintain a positive and supportive classroom conducive to learning and spiritual growth.
  • Implement effective behavior management strategies rooted in faith-based principles
  • Foster a sense of community and belonging among students through collaborative activities and teamwork
  • Instruction and Assessment:
  • Deliver instruction using a variety of instructional strategies and resources.
  • Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative assessments.
  • Provide constructive feedback to students to support their academic and spiritual growth
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students
  • Spiritual Development
  • Lead daily prayer/devotional time, integrating biblical teachings into classroom discussions.
  • Model Christ-like behavior and values through actions and interactions with students. Exemplary behavior and character consistent with Christian values, serving as a positive role model for students both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Facilitate opportunities for students to explore and deepen their faith
  • Parent Communication and Collaboration:
  • Establish open and effective communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress, behavior and classroom activities
  • Collaborate with parents/guardians to support student learning and spiritual development
  • Organize and participate in parent-teacher conferences and other school events.
  • Professional Development:
  • Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge
  • Stay updated on current instructional strategies and best practices in education and faith-based pedagogy
  • Incorporate Bible stories, Christian values, and character education into daily lessons
  • Professional Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with other teachers, administrators, and support staff to ensure a cohesive educational experience and a supportive school community
  • Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, and school events as required.
  • Attend work regularly and is punctual
  • Serve at extra-curricular events as needed
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed
