Summary
Performs administrative and field duties and functions on behalf of the Director of Public Works.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
PRIMARY
- Track, monitor and report on Capital Improvement Projects in the County
- This includes Design Services, Construction and turn over to the Facilities Department for Maintenance
- Create and Maintain tracking mechanism for progress associated with Midland County Capital Improvement Projects in all phases of work.
- Create, organize, and distribute Daily Reports for each Midland County Capital Improvement Project assigned to employee.
- Work closely with Midland County consultants
- Works closely with Purchasing for all contracting operations
- Prepares copies of maps, charts, and blueprints as requested.
- Responds to requests for information from Contractors, the Public, Road and Bridge, among other Midland County departments
- Assists with quality checks on projects.
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.
- Performs other job-related duties as directed
Qualifications, Education, and / or experience
Bachelor's of Science in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or other related field; or 4 years of increasingly responsible job-related experience and on-the-job training in capital facility planning and the location, design, construction, operations, and maintenance of facilities. A working knowledge of State laws related to rural development and planning.
Knowledge, Skills and / or ability
Effective verbal and written communication skills; computer skills; good math calculation skills; interpersonal skills including ability to interact and cooperate with co-workers; problem solving skills. Ability to read and interpret regulatory and engineering documents, as well as contractual documents.
Must have valid Texas driver's license, provide proof of insurance, and have adequate transportation.
