We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Plant Purchaser to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing the procurement process, ensuring that parts and equipment are sourced efficiently and effectively. This position requires strong organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments to maintain optimal inventory levels and support overall facility function. This position also requires familiarity with manufacturing parts and equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure timely replenishment.
- Utilize MRP (Material Requirements Planning) systems to forecast demand and optimize purchasing strategies.
- Addresses procurement issues, i.e. invoice and receipt discrepancies, expediting orders.
- Conduct sourcing activities for new suppliers, evaluating their capabilities and reliability.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market trends in logistics and e-commerce to inform purchasing decisions.
- Assist in the development of purchasing policies and procedures to enhance efficiency.
- Prepare reports on purchasing activities, inventory status, and supplier performance.
- Dispense parts and materials to other departments in the company.
- Confirm Warehouse/Stockroom Inventory Cycle Counts
- Preferred training / experience in at least two or more of the following Areas • Single and three phase industrial electricity and control systems • AC/DC drive Systems • Pneumatics / hydraulics systems • Welding practices and techniques • Machining /fabricating practices and techniques • Industrial boiler operations • Water Treatment Systems • HVAC Systems
- Strong understanding of logistics principles and supply chain management practices.
- Excellent negotiation skills with a focus on achieving favorable terms for the company.
- Familiarity with e-commerce platforms and their impact on procurement processes.
- Ability to analyze data effectively for informed decision-making in sourcing and inventory management.
- Experience with mechanical preventative maintenance systems
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Effective communication skills for collaboration with suppliers, team members, and other departments.
- Proficiency in MRP systems and inventory control software, including AS400.
