What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Paraprofessional position at Midland School District (multi location)?
The Midland School District has an opening for a Special Education Paraprofessional for the 2024-25 school year. This position is intended to support the certified teachers in meeting the instructional, educational, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of IEP entitled students in the classroom.
Essesntial Functions of the position include:
- Provide small group and/or individualized instruction to students with disabilities in accordance with the students’ IEP and supervising teacher’s lesson plans.
- Collects instructional and behavioral data for all objectives being taught for each student.
- Implements Behavior Intervention Plans for students.
- Communicates proactively with teachers to inform them of student issues and needed conversations with parents.
- Assist with preparation of daily lesson plan materials and makes copies of materials for students, as needed.
- Monitors students’ movement throughout the building to other classrooms, learning areas, and cafeteria to ensure expedient and safe transitions of students
- Assists with classroom clean-up to uphold sanitation standards.
- Assists students with any necessary physical needs including feeding, toileting, lifting, and mobility.
- Engages in professional learning opportunities.
- Operate a variety of office and classroom equipment including a computer and assigned software.
- Perform related duties, as assigned.
- Maintain confidentiality of all students and staff members.
- Uphold the Code of Ethics for Educators.
- Follow all federal, state, and local laws.
Education Requirements: Associates Degree or higher OR
60 semester hours of college coursework from an accredited college or university OR
High School Diploma or GED AND a passing scores on the Praxis ParaPro Assessment
